This is a great photoframe app and the only one I’ve found that can display photo captions/titles from EXIF fields, which is exactly what I needed.

This app is great for showing photos on Sony (Google or Android) TV This is by far the best app out there for photo displays on TV. I am an avid photographer with an active family, and after trips and events like to display our photos on TV’s as either a slideshow or as a screensaver. I have experimented with using Apple TV linked to each TV, USB sticks, NAS servers, other apps, you name it. nFolio is easy to use, fast, transmits high quality images and offers outstanding service.

FAQ
The short answer is SMB. SMB is faster, provides the original photos, is more secure, and supports all photo and video file types. Only use DLNA when you need the convenience of using an already working server or you need it to transcode videos for compatibility purposes. SMB serves the raw files and cannot do transcoding.
SMBv1 shares are not supported and were deprecated by Microsoft over 10 years ago due to security flaws.
Yes! Enable SMB or DLNA in your NAS settings and then connect to it using nFolio. The brand of your NAS shouldn’t matter.
Yes, all operating systems support serving files using SMB or Samba shares. nFolio can connect to shares you create on your computer and show the photos and videos in the share. Windows also natively supports serving media files using DLNA, and there are many 3rd party DLNA servers you can install.
Enable DLNA support in Plex or Emby or Jellyfin to use them. You can stream movies directly from your Plex server over DLNA. Emby and Jellyfin work the same way.
nFolio will run on all Google TV, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV models running Android 6.0 or higher. This includes all Google TV models from Sony, TCL, and Onn, as well as most Amazon Fire TV Stick models released in the last 8 years.
LG or Samsung TVs run their own OS, so you would need to connect a compatible device to it. An Onn or Amazon Fire TV Stick works well for this.
The app should run on all Android phones running Android 6.0 or higher.
